2016 - present (7 years)
I have been an integral part of Alpaca Travel since its inception in 2016, contributing significantly to its growth and evolution. I played a pivotal role in crafting the initial prototype that laid the foundation for the company's development. From the initial AngularJS prototype, we transitioned to React and related technologies, a transition I actively participated in. My contributions have spanned a range of key products, including multiple iterations of the CMS, as well as widely adopted content viewers featured on notable brands like Dan Murphy's, Destination NSW, Melbourne Food & Wine, and Australian Travel Magazine.
Highlights of my role:
- Developing Alpaca's fully customised content management system (CMS) tailored for itinerary plotting, boasting advanced features such as customisable branding, AI-driven writing assistance, a robust icon management system, an intuitive embed wizard with preview functionality, and more.
- Developing the fully responsive and embeddable maps, enhancing the interactive experience for users across all devices.
- Developing and successfully delivering a React Native iPhone and Android app to the app store, that empowers users to load maps through QR codes and access them offline, promoting seamless usability.
- Developing / designing downloadable PDFs featuring static maps, custom icons, custom fonts, and branding, delivering a polished and consistent visual identity for brands and their users.
- Developing the Alpaca Tech landing page and documentation, ensuring clear and concise communication of the company's offerings.
2014 - 2016 (2 years)
I was promoted to Senior Frontend Developer at Flint Interactive, and up-skilled in Drupal and Wordpress CMS, which allowed Flint to attract and win more clients and partners. As Lead Developer, I worked with a number of designers and design studios on several big festival and e-commerce websites, including Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, Teach for Australia and RB Sellars. I also had a lot of exposure to other platforms and frameworks, such as Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, Salesforce, Umbraco, Magento and Hubspot.
2009 - 2014 (5 years)
While beginning my role at Flint Interactive as a flash developer, my flexibility and adaptability led me to become very proficient in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and Javascript. Projects included several high-profile lifestyle brands, such as Stephanie Alexander's Kitchen Garden, Carmens Kitchen, Calibre.
2008 - 2009 (1 year)
Coming straight from University, my advanced skills as a flash developer allowed me to work on a number of large clients, such as ANZ and Medibank. Highlights include developing an AFL Game for Medibank that was used in their Australia wide marketing campaign during the 2008 AFL season.
